Organic subjects, of varying forms, collected together as belonging to some related genera whether plant, animal or other. Although familiar they are not obviously recognisable or fit readily into established classification. They are the denizens – the inhabitants of a slightly altered universe. A blending and morphing of biological structures – partly terrestrial, some subterraneous, and others possibly microscopic interior dwellers.

 

They are manifestations of the global anxiety around pandemic viral outbreaks, around cross species contagions, the myths, the lies and the cover ups of human interference in nature's order of things. Friends or foe? Remedies or pathogens? Decorative or abhorrent? Benign or malignant?

 

Denizen's was conceived of during lockdown, and printed once Leicester Print Workshop was open again.
